Greyhoundhomer was first formed in April 2006 by a small group of volunteers originally spread over Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. Once approval came from the Retired Greyhound Trust Head Office, Greyhoundhomer started by homing dogs directly from owners and trainers. After a successful first few months the organisation was asked to take on a kennel full of greyhounds needing homes. Since then we have gone from strength to strength so that currently over 800 greyhounds are in homes as a direct result.

You'll find a Greyhoundhomer RGT stand at many events throughout Essex & Hertfordshire giving the general public a chance to meet our beautiful Greyhounds close up. Due to the large number of dogs we have now homed there are many social events throughout the year. These include walks in a number of different locations, curry nights, quiz nights, barbecues and race nights. So there are always lots opportunities to make new friends, meet old ones and to discuss Greyhounds!

Several owners and supporters have raised funds for us by completing sponsored events such as skydives, bike rides, giving up smoking and sponsored swims. As well as all the above we will always focus on our core activity, finding forever homes for as many Greyhounds as we possibly can and supporting their owners in looking after them.

Are you bored with your old desktop background colour \ picture? Why not change it to a Greyhoundhomer themed one? See sample right. Below are links to a series of replacement desktop background in Windows Bitmap Format. These files are in a high quality large file size format so that should you wish you can add pictures of your own Greyhounds \ pets without losing image quality when saved. We have created a number of common resolutions so should have the right size one for you, if you need a special size created, please contact Mark. To find out what screen resolution your computer is set to (on a MS Windows based computer), right click in free space on your Desktop, select Properties, then select the Settings tab, see screen grab below:

What you see will vary depending on the version of Windows you are running, this is from a laptop running Windows XP.

To set one of the images as your Desktop background click on the link and it will open the image in a popup Window. For Internet Explorer users you can now simply right click over the picture and select "Set as background". This facility may not be available in other web browsers. If you wish to modify your background the rather than use the Set as background option, instead right click over the image and select "Save picture as...". Save the file to your desktop for modifying.
