KATHRYN VERCILLO is the author of Crochet Saved My Life and Hook to Heal! 100 Crochet Exercises for Health, Growth, Connection, Inspiration and Honoring Your Inner Artist . You can find her online at www.crochetconcupiscence.com and www.kathrynvercillo.com. You can have multiple notebooks in one leather case. I have 1 for reference materials and yarn inventory and 1 for current projects. I’ve been trying to get more organized, which is hard because I’m a messy creative person. Maybe you could tell?? I designed this printable crochet planner to help me get organized once and for all and I thought you might like to have a copy of your very own!

Apart from mentioning the source of the pattern, also take note of whether the pattern includes pictures or videos to help with making the amigurumi. I broke it down into specific subsections so that they make sense in along the way in your amigurumi crocheting journey. Do note these are particularly meant for amigurumi crocheters. Let's get started! Reasons for makingThis organizer helps me find the yarn and pattern I need super fast so I can get right to the fun part, the actual making! I know it will help you too. What’s included in the crochet Journal Planner I chose 2 different kinds of notebooks. A dot grid notebook for the reference guide and lined notebooks for my pattern notes and project planner. The dot grid notebook I used came with the leather journal.

When I'm not crocheting you can find me in the kitchen baking with my little ones, drinking iced coffee or watching Gilmore Girls.

Evernote, ToDoist, Trello, Google Keep…I’ve tried them all. Evernote is the one I found most useful for a craft planner. Brainstorm and imagine. Sketch, doodle, diagram. This is a great time to use all those colored pencils you got for meditative coloring in your crochet journal. Someone who likes to keep notes about their projects and yarn inventory and doesn’t need reference materials. A Crochet Project Binder I’m guilty of too many works in progress and needed to come up with a plan. I needed a crochet project planner. The hook size chart is so helpful when you’re trying to find the right size hook for a pattern. I can’t believe how many differnent sizes there are and how the letters can be used for multiple sizes, especially with the larger hook sizes. If you follow US and UK patterns put both charts side by side for easy comparison.

Write down stories. Trace your craft lineage, for example, asking the people in your family if they know about family members who crocheted or if they have any crochet items in the home that have meaning for them. Explore your own connections to the past through your crochet journal. Do you have WIP’s in your pile that you have long forgotten what hook size or yarn you were using? [raises hand] I’m a busy homeschool mom, with 3 kids under 10 and I work as much as I can on this blog. Even though crocheting is literally my career, wearing all those other hats doesn’t leave me with lots of crochet time. You can read more about finding time to crochet in this article here. Do a general outline or drawing, then think about the shapes involved in making the amigurumi, consider the method of assembly of parts and make a deliberate conclusion on the difficulty level you want to set for your amigurumi. This process sort of forces you to focus your thoughts on work processes that you repeat every time you create a new project. So instead of many balls of yarn placed together, possibly amongst your pile of WIPs, take to writing or typing all that you need down, to stay organized and focused. In this part, we will be outlining the general idea for the project and here I subdivided them into either following a pattern or designing your own. 1) Following a pattern

You can keep up to three notebooks in your traveler’s journal, or 2 notebooks and the pouch for extra tools. This traveler’s journal came with 2 elastics. If you want to add a third notebook you’ll need this set of extra elastic bands. Taking all the above into consideration, then ponder on the purpose of the amigurumi, whether it is ornamental, decorational for the home, playing, snuggling or even fashion. These will affect the final intended project appearance and size. Timelines Takes more time to set up the reference notebook instead of simply printing like in the craft binder. Let the Interweave Knits Winter 2024 issue transport you to a winter wonderland of cozy knits! This remarkable edition features 14 extraordinary projects to immerse yourself in the uniqueness of specially crafted yarns. Make lists: Techniques to try, yarn to use, places to buy supplies, goals you have for your crochet work. The pdfs will print on letter size paper which you can put in a 3-ring binder or have bound at an office store. I keep a simple lined notebook that is large enough to write in daily but small enough to carry in a purse. Other options include a blank journal, loose-leaf paper in a binder, and typewritten files on a computer. If you use a physical journal, you can embellish the cover with photographs or crochet. It’s your journal; do what you like to make it special.
