Maintainence: The Silent Runner spins on dual ball bearings located in the back plate of the wheel that need to be kept clean during use and replaced every 4-6 months so that the wheel can work at it's best capability. They have a smooth running surface which may not be the best option for a hamster, but you could attach cork to the inside.

Some dwarf hamsters will happily run in a Syrian sized wheel if it spins well and they can push it, but 9" or 10" is an ideal size for them .
