In my personal experience, these Mooer clone pedals were some of the first mini pedals I came across. And they were some of the first mini pedals that were made available at prices that most guitarists can afford. Whilst the Mooer clones might not have been the very first mini pedals to come out, they surely played a massive role in popularising mini guitar effects pedals.

The depth control alters the overall tone of the tremolo. This can be used to create darker, mysterious tremolo, or brighter, more energetic versions. Depth controls vary on each pedal, and the way they affect your signal will be different depending on the intentions of the manufacturer. The pedal offers true bypass switching and is made from a combination of high-quality analog and digital components, merging both technologies to create the best results. As I’d have expected from a TC pedal, the metal chassis are as solid as they come, which is ideal for touring musicians. The Blues crab is more of a clean drive pedal that is merely meant to boost or push the front of a tube amplifier. Either to an amp that is about to break up or an already driven amp. The blues mood, on the other hand, has more gain on tap and can be used to achieve subtle gain to crunch bluesy goodness.

The Walrus Audio Monument V2 is a multi-faceted tremolo from one of the US’ leading boutique builders, inspired by the otherworldly sandstone formations of Monument Valley. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty The alternative method of producing tremolo using an effects pedal, or in the traditional way of using the built-in unit on an amplifier, is with VST plugins. This digital software has grown dramatically in popularity in recent years because they require no external hardware and can be applied to a recording retrospectively. The Blue Comp by Mooer has a toggle that lets you select between “Treble” and “Normal”. In the past, Boss had made the CS-1 with this toggle. Which is the first indication of it being a clone. If you are a pedal fan like myself, you will know by now what there are 4 universal full-range pedal makers - i.e. have a pedal for every occasion, we are of course talking of Boss, Electro-Harmonix, MXR and TC Electronic. And while the latter two have a number of mini pedals out, those are very far from being representative of all the pedals available in regular or medium-sized enclosures. In fact the only company that really has a mini pedal for every purpose is Mooer with its Micro Series. Who This is Best Suited for: If you value simplicity, and saving space on your pedalboard, then I would highly recommend the JHS Tidewater Mini Tremolo to you. It does everything you require from a tremolo pedal without being overly complex, and can also be used as a preamp booster if you wish. At the heart of the pedal, is the sophisticated Opto-1 Photocell, designed by Fulltone. After looking into this inner component, I learned that it provides sharp sonic character and extremely responsive operation. You can also use the pedal as a competent clean boost, by cranking the internal volume control and turning down the mix control. Used in this way, the pedal provides up to 15dB of clean gain, which is enough for any genre or style of playing! My Review: The first thing that excited me about the BT-1 by Dandelectro, was finding out that it is a tribute to the company’s 1940 tremolo invention. With a unique shape, design, and tone, this mini pedal offers outstanding tremolo effects at a very affordable price and is ideal for those who have a vintage taste. It’s simple to operate but still manages to be versatile. Pairing these two effects together makes this pedal a complete ‘vintage Fender in a box’ rather than just a tremolo pedal, and handily the RevivalTrem works great when plugged straight into an audio interface.

There are two core sides to the Origin Effects RevivalTrem. One, an old-school amp preamp drive tone, and the other, a loving homage to the sound of power tube bias tremolo. The former has controls for output, drive and tone, while the latter has toggle switches for wave shape and speed multiplier, as well as knobs for intensity and rate. When effects pedals were first made widely available in the 1960s, their primitive inner circuitry caused noise issues that guitarists had to put up with. As music technology advanced in the coming years, some innovations were made which minimized this problem.Who This is Best Suited for: If you’re considering purchasing a reverb pedal in addition to tremolo, then why not combine the two with the Fender Tre-Verb. Despite the split-nature of the pedal, neither of the effects suffers in terms of quality, so it’s a great option for guitarists who want to add to their pedalboard without cluttering it. Thankfully, tremolo pedals have made it possible to achieve the effect without having to transport a large tube amp wherever you go. There are two varieties of tremolo which are traditionally used on tube amps. First, there’s the conventional method, and second, a method known as optical tremolo. Some of the best boost pedals, overdrive pedals and preamp pedals on the market are by Xotic effects. By making some of the best of these types of pedals, most of the Xotic effects pedals come with a pretty hefty price tag. Mooer pedals, however, have created a suitable clone of this awesome AC Booster pedal by Xotic effects. This happens to be 1/2 Mooer clones of the Xotic booster pedals. So this review is on the Mooer Flex boost and, down below you’ll find a review of the Mooer Pure Boost. There are some definite differences between them. The blue comp is a more complex pedal than the yellow one. The blue comp has an extra two-way toggle switch which allows for more tweaking of your sound. I talk about what the toggle does above. The Yellow one, on the other hand, is a simple three-knob comp pedal and in my opinion, delivers one of the best sounds from any cheap comp pedal I’ve ever tried. If you’re not sure which one is for you, my advice would be to go for the yellow comp. Delivering warmth and dimension that is a fitting tribute to vintage amplifiers, I was impressed to find that the JHS Tidewater can also be used as a preamp booster. By simply dialing in the Mix control, the tremolo becomes less noticeable and the pedal simply boosts your signal to raise it above the rest of a mix. This might be useful if you often find it frustrating when your levels are inconsistent due to contrasting pedal settings.

I am so glad that Mooer has released a pedal that is a clone of the original Marshall Blues Breaker pedal. I mean, Marshall does have a newer V2 of the Blues breaker but it is not quite like the original. To my ears, I’d say that the Mooer Blues Crab is even closer to the sound of the Vintage Marshall Blues Breaker pedals than that of the actual Marshall BB-2. Finding that original blues breaker tone was difficult until Mooer released the Blues crab. The thing which sets the Monument apart from many other tremolo pedals is its harmonic mode. Each of the independent wave settings sounds really interesting, and even the random mode is useful in some musical situations. If you set the pedal to a slow pulsating tremolo, it acts as a rhythmic, textural tool which can be a great way to build suspense in a song. Who This is Best Suited for: All Boss stompboxes are perfectly suited to the working musician. Thanks to their almost indestructible design, they can withstand a beating on the road, so if you’re likely to be using your tremolo pedal extensively, the TR-2 might be the perfect option to consider. My Review: From my personal experience, I was already aware that Fender’s range of effects pedals are exactly what you would expect based on their guitars: elegant, classy, and extremely dependable. The Tre-Verb is a multi-functional pedal, and I soon realized that it combines luscious reverb with expressive tremolo. Furthermore, the 3-way toggle switch will set the tonal quality of the wah.
